Guided Prayer

A week of guided prayer consists of an introductory evening, a daily commitment to a time of personal prayer & meeting with your prayer guide. It is for anyone who is interested in deepening their faith or exploring their spiritual life.

For more information contact the Diocesan Pastoral Centre on (091) 565066 or email pastoraladministrator@eircom.net.

A Week of Guided Prayer is a real retreat in the real world of everyday life. It may be the perfect solution for those who have too many daily responsibilities at work and at home to go and spend a week in a monastery or retreat centre.

A team of qualified prayer guides will be available every day during these weeks of guided prayer. These prayer companions are priests, religious and lay people who are trained for this ministry by institutes such as the famous Manresa Centre of Spirituality run by the Irish Jesuits.

Participants gather together at the beginning of the week for a spiritual conference and a social gathering with refreshments. Each person is assigned a prayer guide. Participants commit themselves to a period of prayer each day upon a passage of scripture. They meet with their prayer guide each day to discuss the experience of that prayer.

A prayer space will be available in the pastoral centre and all are welcome to drop in to the library at any time for a coffee with the other participants.

Many people find that the experience of a Week of Guided Prayer can breath new life and growth into their spiritual lives.
